Helping you take money overseas

Cash Passport

Simply access a worldwide network of ATMs.

Travelling with large amounts of cash in your pocket can be risky. Thankfully, there's a safer way to travel, without sacrificing the convenience of instant cash.

A Cash Passport card is just like your ATM card, and it's accepted at over 800,000 VISA ATMs around the world. That means, where ever you are, you have easy access to local currency, 24 hours a day. And with the convenience of a reloadable card, money can be deposited into your account by you, or someone else back home. What's more, the card is PIN protected, which means unlike a VISA card, if someone finds your Cash Passport card, they can't use it. And, you're able to link a second card to your account, just in case you misplace the first one.

Travel Tips

To help make sure that your trip is as trouble-free as possible, here are some helpful hints.

1. Your Credit Union can advise on the best currencies and products to take. As a general rule, if your destination has a good ATM network, we suggest taking most of your funds on a Cash Passport Card; if not, take travellers cheques.

2. Always take more than one form of payment. We suggest a Cash Passport card or travellers cheques for your daily spending money; some local cash; and a credit/debit card for bigger purchases.

3. For the best deals when taking travellers cheques, we recommend you take them in the currency of the country you are visiting (as they will often be accepted like cash in shops and restaurants etc..)

4. Remember to sign each of your travellers cheques once only when you purchase them.

5. Take your sales advice slip overseas with you but keep it seperate from your cheques at all times. If your cheques are lost or stolen, simply follow the instructions on the sales advice.

6. Always take some cash in the local currency to cover taxis, tips and other expenses when you arrive at your destination.
