Karpaty Credit Union, in association with many community organisations throughout Australia has launched a “Community Awareness Brochure’, available primarily to visitors and new immigrants from Ukraine outlining details of the community groups throughout Australia…
The brochure was launched to coincide with Ukrainian Independence Day celebrations (24 August)by the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine, His Excellency Mr Valentyn Adomaytis.
In launching the brochure, His Excellency commented on the benefits that the Ukrainian community in Australia has made over almost six decades of post war migration. “Moreover, recent statistics also show that over 30% of the current Ukrainian population in Australia are recent migrants from Ukraine. Such a brochure will enable them to more easily seek out and participate in the strong Ukrainian diaspora, already established here’, said Mr Adomaytis.
“Karpaty is a small community based financial institution, which prides itself on being able to provide a terrific service on a broad range of savings and loans products to its membership base predominantly in Sydney and Brisbane’, said Mr Duma, the CEO of the credit union. “Its origins are with the Ukrainian community in Sydney, established in 1971. Jerry Duma Receives Order of Australia Medal
Karpaty Credit Union’s CEO, Mr. Jaroslav Duma was awarded The Medal of
the Order of Australia in the Queens Birthday Honor List earlier this year.
The Order of Australia Medal was presented to Mr. Duma at the Government House
NSW, by the Governor of NSW Professor Marie Bashir AC.
The award was received for recognition of his contribution to the Ukrainian
community and the Credit Union movement.
Mr. Duma has been an active member of the Ukrainian community for many years.
Being a member of Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM) since the age of 5, he rose
through its ranks becoming its president in both Geelong and in Sydney, followed
by holding of a variety of leadership positions in several other community organizations
over a period of some 35 years.
Mr. Duma is currently the chairman of both the Ukrainian Council of NSW and
the St Andrews Catholic Church Parish Council.
Recently in Toronto, Canada, he was awarded the UYA (CYM) highest honor of Druzhynnyk-Vytiazh
( Distinguished Team Member). The award was presented to Mr. Duma at the World
Congress of the UYA.
Mr. Duma has been the CEO of Karpaty Credit Union for nearly 12 years. He is
married to Mary and has two sons Stephen and Andrew.

Karpaty Credit Union has been listed in the latest edition (December/January 2006) of Money Magazine as having one of the three “Best of the Best” and cheapest CAR LOANS available from a non-bank Financial Institution, based on its comparative interest rate of 7.20% per annum…
